Oct. 19

This one was organized quickly and opportunistically due to a break in the weather forecast. It was a perfect fall day for a drive up the Columbia River Gorge. Temperatures were into the 70’s in the afternoon. We launched at 10 AM and headed to White Salmon, on the Washington side, and then crossed over the Hood River Bridge into Oregon. The views as we crossed the bridge were glorious. We stopped along the way at Steamboat Landing Park in Washougal to add more participants. Lunch was at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant in Hood River. Kent Lambert met us there. Then we enjoyed an hour at Kent's place, admiring his Healey collection, before we headed back to Portland via a leisurely cruise on the Oregon Scenic Hwy, with a rest stop at the Crown Point, Vista House. Round trip total distance was about 135 miles from the Portland area.

Oct. 10 - Oct. 12

A small group traveled to The Dalles, OR for our annual Oct. trip. The weather was cooperative, and we all enjoyed ourselves. On our way to The Dalles, we stopped at Kent Lambert’s house and drooled over his beautifully restored Healeys. Tuesday night was a delicious barbeque dinner that we enjoyed at the Celilo Inn. Wednesday we all visited the many sites in The Dalles. We went to the Pioneer Museum, the Neon Museum and the Discovery Museum. We joined up for dinner and returned to our hotel to continue sharing numerous Healey stories. Many thanks to Gary Jackson, Bob and Jean Bennett, Tom and Nancy Santee, Mark and Marilynne Schneider, Kent Lambert, and John and Judy Carter who made this fun trip happen. The weather was beautiful too!

Once again, this year we have arranged for an Austin Healey Corral at the Forest Grove Concours de Elegance.  Our corral is great low-calorie opportunity to participate in the event. There are no requirements for judging. Although, if you would like your car to be judged either formally, or informally, then that can be arranged. We represented ourselves well last year with over a dozen cars in attendance. Let’s get more this year. You can register here https://forestgroveconcours.org/. This is a fun day spent on the beautiful campus of Pacific University amongst some very fine cars. Food and drink are available at the event, or nearby restaurants.
